Travel and Accomodation

Travel information:

If you travel by airplane: the nearest airport is Frankfurt from which there is a good connection with local trains to Mainz main station (around 15 min. ride). Check the schedule with www.bahn.de. Note that there are two train stations at Frankfurt airport: "Frankfurt Flughafen Fernbahnhof" and "Frankfurt Flughafen Regionalbahnhof". Trains to Mainz leave from both: the faster and slightly more expensive trains (InterCity, InterCityExpress) from the former, the regional trains (RegionalExpress, S-Bahn) from the latter.

After arriving at the main station Mainz Hauptbahnhof, take the back exit, pass the parking station under the bridge, cross the road (around 100 m.) and go to the nearest bus stop.

Buses from Mainz train station:

6, 6A, 69, 9, 45, 54, 55, 57, 58, 64, 65, 68, 69, 75, 90, 91; bus stop “Universität A” or “Universität B” or “Universität C”, etc. It is just one bus stop ride to the campus (note that not all of the buses there go to the campus).

Campus / conference venue:

Enter the main entrance (Haupteingang), follow the same street (Jakob-Welder-Weg); the philosophicum building will be on your right hand immediately after the university’s library (Universitätsbibliothek), in Jakob-Welder-Weg 18.

map Conference hall:

Once you entered philosophicum (through the main entrance), turn to the left and walk until the second staircase, go upstairs and find the room number 01-185 = Fakultätssaal. We will make sure there are guideposts on your way. (If you use the side entrance (at the library) just walk straight ahead and go upstairs by the second staircase)

map Accommodation:

A limited number of rooms is available at the hotel Römerstein which offers single rooms for 69 and double rooms for 92 Euros/night. This is also the hotel where the invited speakers will stay. Unfortunately, there are no more single-rooms available at Hotel Römerstein as per Dec, 15.
